What RCS is
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the next step after SMS: messages can carry images, buttons and a verified business name, on phones that support it. It's appearing in revenu under Settings > Communications > Phone System > RCS Messaging, with a guided sign-up for your brand and sender.
Settings› Communications› Phone System› RCS MessagingNot for Australian numbers yet
Carrier support for RCS on Australian numbers isn't confirmed, so don't plan a campaign around it yet. Keep using SMS. We'll update this guide when it works here.
When it arrives
Each business has to register its brand and sender, and carriers have to approve it. Whether a customer sees the rich version depends on their carrier and phone; others get a plain text.
You know what RCS is and that SMS is still the way to text customers in Australia for now.
